was founded by Liberian-American creative designer Fatima Fahnbulleh while serving in the Peace Corps 2017. The etymology of the name derives from word “Circus”. Ms. Fahnbulleh emigrated to the United States at the age of 8 in 2001 due to a civil war in Liberia at the time. The family settled in Indiana, where she began an interest in art and African culture. Serkes provides delicate apparels that serves a purpose, inviting people to embrace their beliefs, culture and identity. The designs are modern, abstract and incorporates illustrations to express a deeper message.
